If you are a recent high school graduate of a U.S. accredited high school, or if you have earned fewer than 15 semester hours of credit from an accredited college, you will be classified as a new freshman and must meet specific entrance requirements: -
TOEFL
International students are eligible for admission with the completion of the equivalent of 12 years of U.S. elementary and secondary schooling. Admission is based on academic performance in all courses and a minimum score of 550 on the TOEFL. All international students should refer to the international admission website facts.

Engineering Admissions Criteria:
Admission Requirements for the University of Houston’s Cullen College of Engineering are higher than those for the University of Houston in general. The table shows admission criteria for the College.
Engineering majors should have the high school credits listed in the table below upon admission to the University of Houston:Required High School Courses Credits English 4 Social Studies 3 Chemistry 1 Physics 1 Mechanical Drawing (in the tenth, eleventh or twelfth grade) 1 Mathematics (including two units/credits in algebra, one in geometry, and one-half in either elementary analysis or analytical geometry) 4
Cullen College of Engineering Freshman Admission Criteria Minimum Test Scores:*The SAT scores are for tests taken after March 1995. Tests taken before April 1995 are scored differently. Apply for Scholarships and Financial Aid
Please note that all students receiving financial aid will need to apply and be approved on an annual basis to receive financial assistance.- Complete Federal Student Aid Application after Jan.1 but before March 1.

Register for and Attend New Student Orientation (NSO)
New Student Conference is mandatory for all incoming students. Sign up for Orientation as soon as you can to have the best selection of dates to attend and availability to enroll in classes. Advisors in your major will be on hand to guide you in the process on that day. -
Before your date to attend New Student Enrollment (NSO)
- Review registration and enrollment guidelines
- Review list of course offerings
- Make sure you know your UH PeopleSoft ID#

Tuition and Fee Payment
- Confirm classes
- If applicable, confirm acceptance of any financial aid offers and deduct pending aid from your total Term Balance.
