Reservoir Engineering

Reservoir Engineering

This branch of petroleum engineering deals with fluid flow through a porous medium during the development and production of oil and gas reservoirs. It is broad in range and includes applied reservoir mechanics, optimization of reservoir performance, minimization of drilling of unnecessary wells, and development of operations and controls. Faculty in petroleum engineering at UH are addressing many of the challenges in reservoir engineering including fluid and heat flow, multiphase flow, oil recovery and simulation, experimental work on steam flooding, water management, and CO2 sequestration.
